How to test a rate increase without losing visibility

Marbella Hospitality · Prepared · Practical note

Test a rate increase on a defined set of dates so the result can be interpreted. Changing every rate and restriction together makes it difficult to identify the cause of a demand shift.

A practical approach

  1. Choose dates with comparable demand conditions.
  2. Record the old and new total guest price.
  3. Keep photos, availability and minimum stays stable during the test.

An example to consider

If bookings slow after a price change, check whether new competing inventory appeared or an event changed before attributing everything to the rate.

What to track

Track booking pace, conversion and net revenue for the test dates.
